Misplaced Priorities

On the 28th of May 2012 Students of Unilag slept only to wake up as students of Moshood Abiola University. Seriously, i personally feel this is the height of misplaced priorities by the administration of President GoodLuck Jonathan. President GoodLuck Jonathan is full of surprises, January 1st he gave us a New Year Gift by removing subsidy,May 29th Democracy Day, He Also gave us another Gift which is renaming Unilag University to Moshood Abiola University.

The community, which includes the students, the academic staff union of the institution and the non-academic staff union, expressed its displeasure over the national address of President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday that UNILAG would now be called Moshood Abiola University, Lagos.
President Jonathan, in the broadcast, on Tuesday, rationalized the decision by stressing the need to strengthen the nation’s collective memory, draw from strength from its history and build bridges of unity to take the country to greater heights.
According to him, “it is also in this regard that the Federal Government has decided that the late Chief M.K.O. Abiola be honored, for making the ultimate sacrifice in the pursuit of justice and truth. Destiny and circumstances conspired to place upon his shoulders a historic burden, and he rose to the occasion with character and courage.
“He deserves recognition for his martyrdom, and public-spiritedness and for being the man of history that he was. We need in our land more men and women who will stand up to defend their beliefs and whose example will further enrich our democracy.
“After very careful consideration, and in honour of Chief M.K.O. Abiola’s accomplishments and heroism, on this Democracy Day, the University of Lagos, is renamed by the Federal Government of Nigeria, Moshood Abiola University, Lagos by the Federal Government of Nigeria.”
I wonder "who are his so called advisers?"... Doesn't this man know that there's another Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Ogun State. Nigerians do not need a change of name for our Universities!!! What we need is better standard of education for our youths. Are you trying to tell me that i wasted my vote just to see a University get renamed while there's so much insecurity and unemployment.

In a country where the standards of education is falling and there is high rate of unemployment, the last thing we need is a change of name for a university. Please don't quote me wrong cos i don't see anything bad in changing the name of the University, its just the timing. This is a clear case of Misplaced priorities by the GEJ administration.

At this point Most Nigerians are beginning to think that GEJ's administration is a failure. When this man came to beg for our votes He claimed he had no shoes and we gave him our votes and and our trust, must we beg him before we collect the dividends of our democracy?

Democracy or Democrazy? Pls Comment

  2. We have always know that we've had a puppet on a string for a president. (i didnt vote him into office though). The painful part is that for an educated man, he's talking an illiterate. God dey

  4. I feel it doesn't make sense, y not pick another school, no matter what he does even to the point of changing stationeries, d school would forever be recognised as UNILAG. Raise standard of living, free education and health care provided, safety from terrorism; he does these and more, then MKO's legacy would live on.

  5. There are two kinds of people the rulers and the ruled. The rulers dtermine things while the ruled cry over what has been determined: Strive to be a ruler, tha is the way forward. No one else will help your destiny apart from you and your God
